I just made a spare computer for a friend, when i first booted it up, at the bottom of bios boot screen and memory testing it said, cmos battery low and below it said something about memory time low or power low. Here is the setup, all brand new, eccept the hardrive, which was in my old system and ran fine, its only 6 month old.
ECS K7S5A Pro, 256 meg kingston hyper-x 3200, ATI 9600xt, Maxtor 80 gig, it runs in an Antec full tower case with a 450w pow supply. Case is new also. Anything you could help me with. Ive built about 15 systems and never had this problem. Thanks.
 
Nope. didnt think id have to on a new board. And with the memory warning not sure if somethings just off set or something.
 
I had a brand new KR7A a couple of years back that came with a dud battery. Showed it to a watch repair guy, cos I wasn't sure if it was the battery that was at fault, being a new board and all, and you know how often the most simple problem can sometimes be hard to see, esp if you are in any way tech literate. As soon as he saw that it was a Sanyo (I think) he knew straight off these battery's sometimes give trouble - to demonstrate, he span it round and it wobbled, as it had swelled slightly like a bad cap. Still didn't quite believe him until I stuck a new battery in and the problem went away immediately. Having said that, I never had any BIOS warning or anything like that, the system clock just kept resetting, but it was an older board. It's entirely possible in my experience that you got a dud battery. It's nice when the problem you thought was going to cost $100 to fix only costs $5!
 
Ok, I tried to put another cmos battery in, i knew it worked, but i get the same warning, CMOS battery low and CMOS memory size wrong.
