I've noticed that the USB port does not provide enough juice to run my external hard drive unless I plug the 2nd usb plug in. This is what I have btw : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817392012

As you can see the cables that comes with that case has an USB Y adapter for that extra oomph of power. I came from a Antec Sonata I and did not have any issues with just 1 plug.

Does anyone else have CoolerMaster CM690 that can confirm that the usb ports are a bit underpowered on these models or am I the only one? Thx
 
Maybe you plugged the usb connector on a different pin header on the motherboard when you swapped cases


The 2 external hard drives my brother has . They only work with both usb ports plugged in on the 3 cases he has had
