CM Wavemaster to Praetorian Switch -Temp. Differences with PICS!

I ended up switching from the Cooler Master Wavemaster case to the Cooler Master Praetorian. I have had "doors" on all of my case's for the past 5 years or so. Finally I got fed up with having a "door", and I also couldn't use my Vantec Fan Controller in the Wavemaster case, because of the shape of the door (it wouldn't shut). So I decided to switch to the Praetorian. I thought I would post the temperature differences that I recorded so anyone who is looking at either case will have this information. This is NOT to show that the Wavemaster is a bad case. I think the Wavemaster runs good temps. and is an excellent case! I just wanted to show the differences in case anyone was curious.
Anyway, below are the IDLE Temps. and the “LOAD” Temps for the Wavemaster and the Praetorian. There are also PICS of the systems below.

(note: The room temperature was either 69F or 70F)
The room is always pretty cold thanks to Central Air & a Portable 12,000 BTU Air Conditioner used ONLY in the Computer room.)
***Temps are AS reported by Asus Probe.
***No Hardware was Overclocked.

WAVEMASTER TEMPS.
IDLE:
CPU 37C / 98F
MB 28C / 82F

PLAYING UT2004 for about 5 minutes:
CPU 41C / 105F
MB 26C / 78F

Right after a 3DMark 2003 run:
CPU 44C/111F
MB 28C/82F

PRAETORIAN TEMPS.
IDLE
CPU: 33C/91F
MB TEMP: 25C/77F

After Demo of 3DMark 2001
CPU: 37C/98F
MB TEMP: 26C/78F

Looks like the Praetorian runs Cooler Temps. But I should point out that I DID NOT have the OPTIONAL top fan installed in the Wavemaster.

As far as the inside of the case, the Praetorian and the Wavemaster looked exactly alike. You can see that in the above pictures. So the cables, etc... did not cause the temperature difference.Since the insides are the same, I was able to run cables and hide wires the same.(actually, identically) The cases even use the EXACT same Motherboard Tray, so all I had to do was slide my Mobo tray out of the Wavemaster and put it into the Praetorian.

I love both cases, but I was just tired of having a door. I have been doing a lot of burning lately, so dealing with the door got old. I hope some of you find this information helpful. In the end, I don't think you can go wrong with either of these cases.

Thanks. I'm not familiar with people talking about the wavemaster "aiding in cooling" What were people saying? Just curious.

I remember reading a thread on some board about someone who bought a wavemaster case, he and a few other people said that the wave in the front aided in someway to teh flow of air through the case

That prae... which ever upgraded version from one of older coolermaster case, still have special place in my heart. Sturdy, cools great, Classic look Better than most lian-li's when you try to silence things too

Damn, your case is very tidy. Excellent work!

I'm going to be tidying my Praetorian tomorrow and installing my Xp-120. My temps right now suck due having 4 HD's blocking any chance of airflow getting into the case and my 2nd grade wiring job. I hope mine looks as purdy as yours when I'm done........

Thanks.. If I could offer you some advice, I would say TAKE YOUR TIME. Do that and it should turn out great.
