I've seen the early reviews, due out 8-12, and i think i'll be getting one 60bucks msrp, i'll check up newegg to see when it's on pre-order soon. From reviews i'm finally happy to see a company apply a "shift" which they stupidly term, "storm tactics multiplier keys"? I mean wtf, they should just call it mouse shift.

what i'm interested in if the inferno could imitate the "sniper button" that the rat 7 has. IMO the only redeeming thing about the rat7 is the sniper button, once you use it, it's rather nice.

i cannot find out what sensor it uses, does anyone know what the storm sentinel uses?

from the specs it says it's a 4k dpi twin eye, but that doesn't necessarily say that it is the philips twin eye, and from specs the lift off seems pretty low too.

You can see the yellow lens on the bottom of the mouse. CM describes their sensor as "twin laser."

The Philips Twin-Eye is the only laser sensor like it on the market as far as I know.

Looks like it was almost a decent mouse, but the sensor is going to be terrible if it's the twin laser by Phillips..

I also don't think it's necessary to have all those buttons, for me they would most likely get in the way, but it may be decent for any MMO player.

It's actually great placement, imo, comes close to the "buttload" of buttons like the naga, except that the naga is just telephone/numpad style, while if you count the ability to use the "tactics" or mouse shift of the inferno i think it'd beat out the naga in terms of "buttload of buttons".

The only reason i'm questioning the philips twin eye, is that it is marketed as a "twin eye" but it's only 4000 dpi, all the twin eye's from philips i've seen are 5600 dpi.

I'm questioning the Philips Twin-Eye because it sucks on cloth pads. If you press the mouse directly down on a cloth pad (not moving it on the X or Y axis, just the Z axis) the cursor will move diagonally, making it frustrating to use on a cloth pad.

i actually meant, i'm questioning if cm meant "twin eye" is in relation to philips twin eye, or just more cm marketing.

From what I've heard any twin eye sensor has issues even if it's not the 'top of the line' 5600dpi.

The inferno most likely uses the same phillips sensor as the old lachesis and the orochi. It is an older phillips sensor that also shares the same problems with the newer 5600DPI sensor. Check the newegg images of the 4kDPI lachesis and you will find the same piss colored sensor.

Click jitter.
Z-axis movement when lifting and repositioning.
Delay / lag on certain surfaces when repositioning.

All complaints with the old 4000DPI lachesis. The problems sound familiar don't they?

Same shit, Do not want.

It probably has the twin eye. Gonna be a piece of junk. The mice are not even usable for gaming unless you are a crazy high sensitivity player who never needs to lift their mouse. I have to have 1:1 mouse input or I get pissed.

the mouse moves w/ pinpoint accuracy like my death addler, i really do not know if this has the philips twin eye or not, lifting it about the same heigh as my death addler seems the same (i can't compare it to the rat7 anymore i returned that pos trash). Anyway just had it for over an hour will report back w/ whatever i find out (i even find the feet acceptable, fwiw all my mice have hyper glides).
*edit*
actually the lift off is bad, comparing to death addler the inferno moves down right.

For $10 more, I think the Sentinel Advance would be a much better choice. I don't know why it's so expensive in the US though; I got mine from a retailer in Canada for around $40.

sentinel advance doesn't have the "tactics" button, or basically the shift, the shift is nice.

just went and put on hyperglides on the mouse cuz i'm used to hyperglides on all my mice and so far smooth and pin point accurate.(i've already twist tied my deathadder 3G, but i think my fiance might want it, idk)
*edit*
now there's a rattling noise in the mouse like there's something loose, all the buttons work tho...

got curious decided to open up the mouse, there was an odd bit of plastic lodged in it, didn't seem to be broken (prolly just the plastic part that holds out plastics), look like a piece of plastic from a modeling tray, like those old school replica builds.

showed that there were 2 11g weights in the back of the mouse decided to take em out while i was in there, now the mouse weights 98 grams (i like a light mouse).

opening up the mouse even more (5 leds btw, not counting the 5micro leds for dpi selection) pretty much confirms it's the philips twin eye (since the sensor looks exactly like the pic in the philips spec sheet and i see 2 lasers packed side by side.

Does this mouse let you macro mouse movements? Could I record a macro for, say, turning my character?
Also - how easy is it to hold down that shift button and press the other buttons at the same time?

the tactics "shift" button is very easy to use with the other buttons.
checking out the script section i don't see where it'll record mouse movements. like for macroing tradeskills in a mmo or some other repetitive feature.

you can record timing/mouse clicks and you can insert mouse movement from x=1, y=1 all the way to your resolution. So while i can only say it won't be able to record your mouse movement you can program the mouse to move how you want.

Wow...thanks very much for your response! Most mice don't have enough programmable buttons for me and I didn't really care for the smallish size, lack of button textures, and awkward forward/back button positioning on the razer naga.

An extra modifier key + a reasonable number of buttons seems like it might be a better compromise. I'm really tempted to buy one of these.

this mouse has completely replaced my death addler, (since i don't lift my mouse it's a non issue) and i like playing with macro's and having so many on hand.
however does anyone know how to turn off that damn calibration for these cooler master mice? everytime i turn on the program it comes up and ruins my settings.

CM Storm Inferno uses a Philips Twin Eye PLN 2031 Laser: which goes up to 40000 dpi

Razer Imperator uses a Philips Twin Eye PLN 2032 Laser: which goes Up to 5600 dpi

there are plenty of posts on youtube illustraing the Z Axis problemm with the Phillips Twin-Eye sensor.

All of that has already been discussed in this thread, so there was really no reason for you to revive it after two and a half months of inactivity.

except the mouse is awesome! (could use a bit more ergonomic love)
