Anyone heard of ClusterOne? This is organized by a company called Computation Biology Technologies. Their linkedin website points to Good AI Lab but the clusterone site is not yet linked to their main web page. They are new startup company.

There is a good section on FAQ and according to their website on Cluster One, you can earn credit (what credit?). Ok, sounds good but nothing concrete yet. Anyway, I just joined their waiting list and see what happens. They also claim to be "more general purpose than F@H in terms of application" in their FAQ.

Wait...what is Cluster One?

Cluster One is a movement to scale AI to the max. We are building the largest AI supercomputer to make AI easier and more accessible to any researcher by providing tools, infrastructure and ecosystem.

Our first step was to build a plateform, TensorPort, to enable researchers from academia and industry to build their deep learning models more efficiently. TensorPort is already used by fortune 100 companies.

Now we want to build the world largest AI supercomputer, and provide free computing power to academic research. Computing resources are a blocking problem, but solving life threatening problem such as cancer is within reach if we get a large community of users on board! With Cluster One you will be able to give your compute power to researchers working on critical challenges. You can connect your computer while you are not using it, or run our app in the background while doing something else.

All you have to do is install a small app and click connect!

I just see: they even put my questions on their homepage ... I'm honored ... :jimlad: ... more virtual cookies ...

Let see if anything really interesting comes up. Hopefully they will treat their donors well unlike .... [fill in the blanks].

ChristianVirtual , perhaps you should contact them and see if you can convince them to use BOINC. Maybe you could work with them setting it up or use the BOINC wrapper somehow like a few other projects do.

Depend on their business model and if it fit into the GPL world of BOINC .... I can give it a shot but also doubt I would be able to setup something on business scale level. Hey, maybe a new day job for me ...

Let me know when they actually start sending out work units and such. Even if it is still limited to select users. Then I will add it to the DC list. I'm waiting more to see how it evolves as what I'm seeing right now is not really anything new except the AI portion. And I'm really not too keen on advancing AI. Their faq says that academia get access to the cluster free implying that there is a non-academia monetization planned. They claim you will be able to select what you support and that they will be up front with such details. They also mention that in the future they will have a version where you can essentially get a kick back based on your contribution. No details yet on that. Since there are already a hand full of "sell your unused cpu cycles" gimmicks out there that don't pay out the cost of the electricity consumed, I'm doubting this part will be worth anyones time unless they get free power. Anyways, we will see if/when they get a working setup going.
