Does anyone know how to do this? I've been trying to get it set up for about 3 days now and it's to get me a little bit mad.

If anyone has set this up before, or knows where I can get good information about how to setup the service, please let me know.

I have 4 machines running 2000 Server w/SP1 linked with a 100MB hub on the network here. The 4th is running as the DNS server for the other 3 and they are all running on the same domain with the cluster service installed.

Thanx

So your using the cluster administrator and what.. its not seeing the others not starting

I have it all set up the way it says to set it up. But when I go to start the service, its says the service can't start, I'll post tomorrow the exact error message

Ok..hopefully I can help..but hopefully there will be others paying attention..being at work makes it tough to give you a quick answer

Exactly what are you trying to cluster?

SQL, File Share, ???

A physically shared disk is required for the quorum drive and any other shared resources. This is a basic requirement for the cluster to even start. Likewise, a cross-over cable stretched betwixt the two nodes is usually suggested for heartbeat.

If your talking WLBS, then it's something altogether different.

read this man's post..

You need a quorum drive to even start the cluster service. Also the Windows 2000 cluster is allowed a maximum of two server on advanced and four on datacenter :) With Win2k3 only enterprise (4 nodes) and Datacenter (8 nodes) support Clusters. NLB is totally a differnt beast. NLB is only for the IP layer only not hard drive redundancy.

Give that man a cigar. I'd missed that LITTLE tidbit.. he's right about the advanced server. the NLB supports up to 32 nodes

oh, sorry about that.

i've switched systems, and OS's

Now I'm running 4 brand new 2.4GHz dells with 2003 Server. I've almost got it set up, I'll let you know tomorrow what's goin down.

umm with 2003 standard server.. Clustering does not work. You need enterprise or Datacenter server to have a cluster. If you are talking about a farm. Than that is NLB function not a cluster function.

Interesting, it's some kind of version of 2003 server, and it has clustering options. I'll let you know what's goin on.
