500GB spindle drive in laptop (60GB of data) that I need to move to a 128GB SSD.

What utility to you recommend that can

  1. Shrink the volume
  2. Correctly align for SSD

Acronis True Image. I have used this many times.

Only catch with that free version is that you need at least one western digital drive in the system or it won't work. The WD drive doesn't have to be the source or destination drive though, it just has to be present. I have a western digital laptop hard drive in a cheap external USB enclosure that I plug in and just let sit there idle and the program runs great :)
