Clock running too fast?

The clock at the bottom right in windows seems to run 3 times faster then usual. I have to always change it back, and I have no clue what is causing it. Could it be the motherboard? I got no spyware or anything. Specs in sig.

Anyone ever experience this? Getting really annoying. :(

So, let's say an hour goes by, how many minutes does it gain? 180? How old is your MB?

You can try checking for viruses, spyware/adware, deleting temp directory and temp internet files, scandisk/defrag and all that stuff first. If it still gains many, many minutes, then try changing the CMOS battery and see what happens. But write down all your BIOS settings first.

If you're running XP, there is an option for 'clock sync' or something along those lines - make sure it is turned off.

I checked for spyware and viruses, and there are non. I don't have it syncronizing with the internet time server. I haven't changed the battery yet, but I don't think its that. Could it just be the motherboard that is defective? Its a Asus A7N8X Deluxe Rev 2.0, got it about November.

It's rare, but sometimes the clock can just get out of whack and go into hyperspeed mode.

Best bet is just to get a time-synch program (The freeware Dimension 4 is the one I like the best), set it up, and forget about it hehe.

The world is actually turning faster and causing some clocks around the world to increase speed. Before long we'll be catching up with time itself, and be able to foresee the future.

Maybe your clock isn'r running faster, you're just experiencing little bits of "lost time" like when people get abducted by government scientists posing as aliens which then perform ritualistic colonoscopies on unsuspecting victims.

I fully agree.

Or it could be the Win32 clock speed. About 1 year ago counter-strike speed hacks were widely available using a tool which made the windows internal operation slower than it really is, to compensate the game moved real quick, the reverse of this could also happen. Or maybe the mobo battery needs replacing?
