One more click and I am going to bash the living crap out of my Soundblaster Live. Yeah I know it is a budget card, but WTF!!!

This happens only when I use my Netgear G Wireless PCI card. Even if I am idle doing squat, I'll put on my headphones and it starts to tick like a little beotch!! Problem is, I need to have my Wireless PCI card installed, if not well, I can't access online.

My Motherboard is an Abit IT7 Max2
My Sound Card is a Sounblaster Live 5.1
My Headphone is a Sennheiser 202
My Wireless card is a Netgear 54G

So how can I have my wireless card and not hear a single tick???

Thank you.

Check the PCI latency setting (in your BIOS).
If it is still at the default setting double it.
Or you can tweak it from windows with PowerStrip

Roger that, will double the bastard, hehe. Powerstrip? Let me google that, thanks man.

What should it be set at? It was at 32, I tried placing it on 64 but it is still there.

it's not just the sb live card.. I have sB audigy 2 ZS w/ wireless g netgear pci card.

Mine used to do that alot, but these days it's not as often.

[1] Tilt your antenna to the side. (facing closest direction of the router)
[2] in the bios settings, make sure the onboard sound is off. (audio codec , etc)

See how that helps.

That is good and bad at the same time.

Good because I am not the only one with this kind of problem.

Bas because the card that you have is what I was planning on purchasing soon.

Do you think it is really the Netgear G Wireless that is causing it?

My setup has always been like what you told me to do. Onboard sound has always been turned off and the antenna is already pointing all the way to its left. It is not even touching any part of my computer or cables. As for the "audio codec and etc." what do you mean by that?

It is my router and Wireless PCI card. But I mean, that sucks how I cannot be online and listen to music at the same time without hearing the clicking noises. I was just wondering if this occurs with all Soundblaster live card, Audigy?

It really doesn't seem to matter with the sound card. the wireless signal's interfering.

but as I said before, it barely happens anymore. I've just bought new headphones, and it didn't tick once.

Oh yeah, also what pci adapter are you using?

If it's the WG311, netgear released new drivers - so try to update it and see if it helps.

Updated the drivers and it is a little bit better. At least it does not make any noises when I scroll the pages up and down. It just tick about 4 times in about 4 minutes. Alot better than ticking every 1 minute IMO.

Thank you for that tip regarding the drivers.

As for your PCI latency, what do you have yours set at? Mine is at 64, should I bump it up higher? The default was 32.

Thanks.

leave it at default. I don't think changing the values will help in this situation.

So the bios audio settings are all off, right? Also, the onboard lan is off too, correct?

The clicking now sounds like a background effect. It is much better than before. Thank you guys, case solved, sort of, hehe.

Onboard Lan is off, but what do u mean by this?

It differs for different motherboards, but there should be a setting for something called a "audio codec interface".

Disable that.

Well, I knew that it was too good to be true. The damn thing came back, this time louder than ever. Not sure what happened, did not do anything different. So now, I am rebooting everything, needed a fresh install anyways.

This time I am just going to set the PCI adapter on PCI slot 1. I did not install the Soundblaster Live yet. I tried locating drivers from the main website but it is funky over there. I am not sure which is which. Anyone knows where I can get the driver for Soundblaster Live! Value?

I am going to set it fresh with the onboard sound to see if it does the clicking.

Should I download the AC97 sound driver for the IT7 Max2?

You might as well give the onboard audio a try.
Download the absolute latest drivers direct from the CODEC manufacturers website here.
The drivers on Abit's site are most likely significantly older.
edit: I checked, they're quite a bit older

If you do try the Live! again, you can use the kxproject drivers as an alternative.

As already stated, turn off the AC97 Audio in BIOS if you try to reinstall the Live!.

Ahrite, did the fresh install, tried out the onboard, it sucked ass. Turned it off, uninstall everything that had to do with the onboard sound card.

Replaced with SB Live. Now I am downloading that drivers, let us see.

Thank you for all the tips.
