Clicking Drive, Dead?

I've got an IBM Deskstar manufactured 11/00 that has been acting badly lately. The system it was in would lock up for a minute or so while in windows, and when I rebooted it to see if that might make it ok, I got a good ole BSOD. I think that hard drive is nearing death, as I connected it to my other systems and can sometimes partition/format it but sometimes not and it will go into its click cycle (a series of four clicks before what sounds like the head resetting).

I recorded the noises for your listening pleasure..

ya, that sounds fuked, it sounds as tho its scratching against something also, but yea, in general loud clicking of a hdd = its on its last legs or thereabouts, one of mine took a shit about 2 weeks ago and although it clicked it wasnt as bad as your one.

If you want that data, get it off before the thing takes its last breathe.
