i'm sure its been asked before but i didnt see anything promising via a serach...

best way to clean those annoying oily smudge marks from a lcd screen? i've seen windex eat through the anti-glare coating on my old 19" crt... so just a wet/damp wool towel or just a wet paper towel?

windex = no
paper towel = no
wool = assuming no

Windex can kill any coatings on the panel and the paper towel will causes scratching. I am assuming wool is too rough as well but I could be wrong on that one.

Best thing (imo) is a microfiber cloth or maybe a 100% cotton cloth just lightly damp.

Microfiber cloth is good....water...bad (mineral deposits). Just go to Office depot and pick up a small bottle of their cheap, store branded lcd cleaner spray. It's non-alcohol so it won't wreck the screen coating and all it takes is a quick spritz on the towel and you're good to go.
