I am not sure if this is the right area to post this so if not Mods please move....

I currently have about a year old Canon A540 point and shot. My fiance and I love the camera as it does PRETTY MUCH everything that we need it to do. However, recently while at a party it looks like beer was spilled on the camera, the camera still works and takes pictures but the lens covers has begun to stick and the accessories ring will not move. Is there somewhere that I can take the camera to and have it cleaned? There is a Gordons' photo in town so I do not know if they would be able to do something like that or if I would have to send it back to the manufacturer.

THanks for your help.

I would take it to the camera shop and, ask if they can clean it. But if it got anywhere inside then it is off to Canon. I would get a guesstimate from them on how much a cleaning costs.

I believe Canon charges close to $200.00 for cleaning. If you can find a small local store that will do it it will be cheaper. Last time I paid for a camera to be cleaned was for a 35mm film camera and it only cost $35.00 locally. That was quite some time ago though so expect to pay more than that now.

get an estimate first as anything over about 75 bucks would make it worth your while to buy another camera
