I was wondering if someone could give me some info on the best way to clean my Lcd Screen Like what tools, chemicals and techniques I should use. Thanks

mildy warm / damp cloth..

i'll usually let the monitor warm up, give it a quick cleaning with a damp cloth followed by a drying with another clean cloth.. works great..

not sure there is any chemical i would ever suggest using and what ever you do, don't use glass cleaner/windex - anything alcohol based..

I don't really like to use water because unless you use bottled distilled and triple filtered water there will still be mineral deposits. I use some cheap lcd screen cleaner spray from Office Depot on a microfiber cloth to clean mine and it works great.

MonsterClean works great. 20 bucks for a huge bottle that will last for years.

This is what I recomend as well. If you do a search in these forums you will see this question comes up a lot. The monster screen cleaner is sold in a few versions but the 20 buck one randy is talking about comes with a cloth and a bottle of cleaning solution. When I worked in retail as a notebook tech we used it on at least 10 notebooks a day and a bottle lasted us a few months. Well worth it. It is just a rebrand of another cleaner but I can't think of its name and the monster one can be found at compusa or best buy. It is worth it.

I've used 99% pure isopropyl alcohol and it seemed to work well. Most people say to dilute it 50/50 with water. I've done it both diluted and straight up.

You have to be an adult to buy it where I live, they keep it behind the counter at the drug store.

In another thread like this someone mentioned using a damp coffee filter to clean a screen. I tried it and it worked wonders. I have never seen a screen get so clean, so fast, with no swirl marks at all. Perfect!

ive been using a very light damp warm cloth and a nice dry micro fiber (like one you get with sunglasses) and it works great. I keep it pretty free from dust with some air and a anti static wipe every so often.

thats a new one. sounds kind of weird but I will have to remember that one.

Not cleaned my LCD yet but for my CRT I use a slightly damp kitchen roll and then used dry kitchen roll to dry it afterwards, if you dry it quickly because the kitchen roll absorbs fast it actually remove almost all of the water and doesn't streak.

I don't think i'd be happy using chemicals on my monitor.

Honestly they should make this a sticky as it gets asked all the time.. pretty much the rule of thumb on any monitors is to not use ANY chemicals.. get a lint free cloth and a spray bottle with water only, spray the cloth so it's slightly damp, wipe it down then immediately wipe it again with a dry lint free cloth. Safest bet.. well unless you have gobs of dried ketchup and bits of fried chicken stuck to it, then I can't help you :p
