I got my LG L1981U lcd a little while ago, and it already has some smudges and spots on it. Is there any way to safely remove them, without damaging the lcd? most of the smudges are from me sneezing (i have bad allergies). Would water and a cloth work? or is it best to clean it dry?

Monster makes a fantastic cleaning kit, microfibre cloth, proper cleaning soulution etc. You won't be dissapointed. It's one of those products made to actually do the job properly ;)
