Cleaning a LCD Display

I recently opened up a laptop for x-mas. I would like to know how to take care of it. What is the BEST way to clean a LCD display? ANY help is appreciated :)

I remember someone mentioning a Monster Cable lcd cleaning kit, that would be probably the best way. I just water and a soft rag.

There are about ten million "products" for cleaning lcd panels, but I've always had good luck with a microfiber towel and a little water.

Not at all a plug for Circuit City, just happened to be the one who showed up at the top of my search:

That's probably what the previous poster is referring to--I've used it before, overall it gets the job done! I haven't tried it on a coated LCD display (I think some of Sony's laptops have the anti-glare coating on them still) but I presume it wouldn't damage the coating.

I would never use water unless you keep a jug of distilled water on hand....even filtered water is going to have some deposits left in it. What I use is a microfiber cloth and some cheap lcd cleaner spray from Office depot (which I suspect is the same as the overpriced Monster stuff)....just a quick sprig on the cloth (not on the screen) and a little light pressure is all it takes to clean it up nicely. Some people say OMFG DON'T USE SPRAY!!1 but it won't harm the coating, doesn't streak and actually seems to be anti-static so it stays clean longer. Just my .02

I wouldn't even use a liquid; just something very soft. Soft enough not to scratch.

well I fliked water spots onto the screen and wiped it with a soft cloth. WOKED GREAT. as far as i can tel but i don't want anything to disturb the tint thing.

I thought that everyone had distilled water in the house.. I do :p

A very small amount of water is all it takes for me, I am posting this on a 6 year old laptop that I have been cleaning with water and a microfiber towel since the day I got it.. Works for me

I've always used a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol on it. It will get anything off, and doesn't leave anything behind. Great on dust, spit from yelling at the computer, jizz stains, etc.

I agree alcohol does work great for jizz stains.
