Hello all, thanks for your help in advance.
THE PROBLEM: When i install windows on a clean formatted SATA drive, it copies all the files over, asks to reboot, and then instead of going into the next installation screen(not running of the CD anymore but still continuing the install) it comes up with the loading screen for windows XP. The one with the little bar scrolling horizontally across. It just sits there, scrolling. Nothing else happens. I've let it sit for 15 minutes.
Google hasn't turned up anything, maybe im not searching correctly.
This is a new system that i have. First time SATA user.
ASUS M2N-E
AMD 4200+
and the hard drives are
250 GIG SATA WD drive
250 GIG IDE MAXTOR drive
First thing i did was load up into maxblast from UBCD and fill both drives with 0's which took forever, but i did complete both of them. Then i made a partition on the SATA drive for about 15 gigs for my windows partition. Installed windows on it and got the above problem. If i go into my BIOS, it is set to boot off of my SATA hard drive first in the hard disk boot priority and then my IDE maxtor drive. I even tried unplugging the second HD(IDE one) and installing it that way; same issue.
Any help is really appreciated; this is driving me crazy, i've had nothing but problems so far with my system(first ram compatibility which took an rma and 2 weeks to fix and now this!)
