What is the best method to cleaning out a res and what used to be clear tubing? Do not much care about the tubing as I have ordered new stuff, but would like the res crystal clear again, it has a haze to it now. Its a DD 5.25" bay style res.

my guess is leave some peroxide in it for a while, that should eat up all the dye or whatever considering most of them are organic based anyhow, never realy bothered cleaning when changing colors,i just put in new color and eventualy the old one gets worn away
 
I find using just cheap white vinegar works well.
You can dilute it if you want (maybe 50/50) with distilled water and run it thru your loop if you want to clean both the res and the tubing, then flush with plain distilled water.
I usually run it thru the loop for an hour or two, then a quick 20min flush with plain distilled.
Makes things all nice and clean and doesn't ruin the plastic.

Will be doing this with one of my older WC setups probably next month.

yea i wouldnt use any peroxide or anything like that
soapy water is the way to go thats how i cleaned my 5 1/2 bay
 
welp, I will try water and palmolive first :) If that does not work I will try the vinegar route. Mainly just want the res clean, as I ordered all new clearflex tubing anyway.. but if it cleans up the existing clearflex I would still use it.
