So my Logitech Z-560's amp died on me that I've had for ~8 years and instead of another all in one I was considering buying a separate two channel amp and a 8"-10" powered sub.

I don't have much space on my desk so was looking at the T class amps specifically the:

Dayton DTA-100a 50w x2 (back-ordered till 11-24 with questionable build quality)
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=300-383

Or the

Topping TP21 25 x2 for ~$80 on ebay

Does anyone have experience with these or any other small amps? There seems to be a lack of legit reviews on these. Am I right to thinking this amp, my Logitech speakers(for now), and an external sub will be better than say an <$200 powered system?

I have the Topping TP20 (not 21) and it's fantastic. It sounds significantly better than the amp in my Onkyo receiver which isn't saying much. It's actually brought out flaws in my speakers, I need to pad down the tweeters after I replaced them. The new ones are just slightly more efficient than what I replaced. My speaker efficiency is 89 or 90db/1w and they get plenty loud for the room they're in.

I've seen people take apart the daytons but I haven't heard them. I don't think you'll be disappointed in the TP20 if you get it though.

I have not used the DTA-100a but I have used the smaller version DTA-1 15w x2, it sounded very good on a micro set of speakers, the build quality was pretty good for the price

Dayton's a good brand (it's the Parts Express house brand). Their stuff is usually better bang for the buck than most anything in audio. The Tripath chip that it uses is a pretty standard Class D amp (Tripath likes to call it Class T for marketing). I use a different Tripath amp in a 41Hz Amp 32 as my main system, but 41Hz has an amp (the Amp 6) based on the same Tripath chip you're looking at.

Dayton is a pretty good Brand. I've never used that particular amp but I've had one of their plate amps which worked really nice. I've also had a Dayton Titanic MKIII sub which was one of the best sounding subwoofers I've ever used in my house and in my car.
