I've got a clark connect box running as a router/firewall and it is blocking access to the freedb database when I use EAC (audio ripping program if you don't know). I've tried asking in the clark connect forums and never get any replies to my questions so I figure I'll try here. Anyone know how I can determine which port this is operating on and how to open that up once I figure it out. I'm not even really sure if its being blocked on the way out or when freedb tries to reply with CD info. Any help would be great as I'm sick of typing in CD info every time I rip another disk ;)

Sniff the traffic before it hits your firewall and you'll know what ports you need to open.

What exactly is the error message you get with EAC?
I have clarkconnect running at home and have no problems connecting to freedb.

Edit - I have no special firewall rules setup to allow connection to freedb, you shouldn't need any for connections originating inside the firewall.

Second, found this via google:
"I keep getting a FreeDB Server error!"

[Solution:] Go into EAC, press F12. Beside 'FreeDB server' change it to: http://freedb.freedb.de:80/~cddb/cddb.cgi

And for the record:

You did get replies on the CC boards, and your post from last year on the same topic.

Yeah, I just saw replies now; must have more patience. Anyway:

-Error message is "Error - Server Error", not terribly descripive

-Tried changing the freedb server but still get the error

-I know its the router causing the problems as if I run straight off the DSL modem I can access it but is there anything besides the firewall that could case this problem seeing as how others don't seem to have firewall issues?

-I'll check through some logs and see what I can find, but a lot of them are rather large and mysterious.
