one quick -could be silly- question:
how come if i try to use CAS latency 1.5, divider 1:1, HT@200mhz, my memory speed was detected as 384mhz DDR? any explanation to this?
 
what does cpu-z say? what's the htt set to, and cpu multiplier?

btw, don't bother with cas1.5.. it doesn't really exist, and is about equal, if not a touch slower than cas2
 
all default, i'm just trying to see if cas1,5 works on my memory

yeah i realize about the cas1,5 thing.. but i'm just wondering how come the CAS affect its speed? i've read somewhere, a geil review on a64 platform, and nothing mention about the speed being slower than it should..
 
it's because cas latency isn't really like the rest of the timings. there's stages.. sorta like a pipeline if you will. each latency has to be programmed into the dram IC. ddr1 typically has 2, 2.5 and 3. ddr2 has 3, 4, 5 and 6. forget about going higher or lower. if you get performance out of going lower, i can't say why. probably some tightening/loosening of some other internal timings in the memory controller that make a difference.

So does it do it at 199Mhz, 201Mhz, etc?
