Cisco PIX changing an existing route

I'm working with a Cisco PIX where the static IP on the outside changed. I was able to change "ip address outside" but when I try to enter:
route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 <new gateway ip>

I get an error indicating the new route conflicts with an existing one. Forgive my ignorance but I assume that means I have to remove the old outside route. How do I remove it to put in the new one?
