Cisco Lab Challenges

xphil3 gave me some lab challenges in the network pic thread, people were complaining so I'll post everything in here.

Ive got two challenges for you:

Challenge 1:
iBGP peer R4 and R3
iBGP peer R3 and R1
You cannot peer R1 and R5 via eBGP.
You cannot redistribute BGP into OSPF.
verify that R1 can ping routes being advertised from AS6500.
You must use BGP.
You cannot peer R1 and R4.
If you need a hint, look at why its an unwritten requirement for iBGP to be fully meshed and if its not the solution.


Challenge 2:
R7, R3 and R8 into EIGRP AS 200
configure R7 as a stub
configure loopbacks on R3 and advertise them into the AS
verify that R8 can ping the loopbacks on R3.
I want to be able to ping R3's e0/1 interface from R8
I want to be able to ping R3's loopback addresses that are:
1.1.1.3
12.1.1.3
12.2.4.3
I want specific routes in R8's routing table, no static routes and obviously no summeries.

Post your solutions and "show" verifications.

For both solutions use the "best"(ie. cisco) solution.

I posted this in the network gallery the other day and also saw it on another forum awhile back. I think it would be cool to bring to the [H] as I have seen so many threads relating to people studying for their CCNA or CCNP.

I pretty much want to see if people are interested in Network challenges, if this thread dies, well then I guess no one was interested

The Network Challenge would consist of:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
- The Dynamips/Dynagen/GNS3 Cisco emulator
-*Your* own Cisco IOS, Im sure that most of you can find ways to get it legally
- The challengers topology file(.net file)
- A network diagram with all physical and logical connections, routing domains, etc.
- A written description of what the final lab should do(IE.. establish connectivity between devices with frame relay)
- PEMU can also be used to setup security labs for the CCNA:security or CCSP material.

Labs can get as complicated as you would like, just give an accurate description of what the final topology should look like. I would like to not limit this in any way... if people would like to use vmware and add UTMs or other linux distro firewalls to their challenges that would make it a little more challenging, but I do ask that Dynamips be used in every challenge(as this is geared at helping people focus on studies).

I would really like to see this thread take off as I think it would help A LOT of individuals really understand the certifications that they are getting. With that said, I also think that this will promote Dynamips/Dynagen as great alternatives to real equipment and hopefully cut-down on all the "should I get this for my CCNA" threads.

My recommendations on IOS: While it is technically against policy to run Cisco code on anything other than a Cisco router, for studying purposes they really do not mind(trust me). Do what you can to get your own IOS(the legal way ofcourse, buy a router ) as this is a requirement for the challenge.

Glad you got it. 40% of the time is knowing were to find the information. Also, so others can benefit, is it possible you can upload your .net file from dynamips? and how about the 2nd challenge ?

I'm taking a little break, haha. I'll probably attempt it later tonight. Really not sure how to do it though.

Vito I wanted to know were are you at on your BSCI studies, and what book are you using, maybe, we might have the same book and I can point you to the right direction. I do believe that this feature is covered on the BSCI.
