Hi All

I have just bought the Cisco SG300-28 switch but it didn't come with a console cable.

I am looking for a serial to USB console cable that can be used with this switch.

Can someone recommend a cable that will work with this particular switch?

After looking online I am a bit confused. Do I need a null modem cable? Or something else?

Thanks!

Our new switch didn't come with a cable either but luckily there was a standard console connection in addition to the new usb console.

Actually, the small business line switches use a standard DB9 Null modem cable. There is no Rj45 port for Console access. At least on the models up to last year. you can still use a DB9-USB adapter if your computer does not have a Serial port. The Standard Cisco RJ45- DB9 will not normally work unless you have 2 of them and use a RJ45-RJ45 adapter in the middle, although that just makes a Null Modem cable if you need one in a pinch.

Thank you all but was able to connect via the swiitches IP in the end so didn't need to purchase any kind of serial/IUSB cable!
