Cisco has plopped down and undisclosed sum of money for the software used to create online social networking sites. According to this news item, the newly acquired software will eventually be integrated into the Cisco Media Solutions Group.

Utah Street Networks, which has seven employees based in San Francisco, uses proprietary software to create and maintain online communities on Tribe.net. This software will be integrated into the Cisco Media Solutions Group, Cisco said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
