Cisco 2960 + iSCSI Problems

Is anyone here using the 4948-10GE for home use? Curious how noisy this switch is. Cisco site says variable fan tray for low noise but doesnt give out db noise levels in spec sheet. Any input would be appreciated...

Loud. When they say "low noise" they mean in the context of a loud datacenter.
 
I had two running on my desk a couple of days ago, they are not something you would want to sit next to.
 
Disappointing to hear but glad I asked, almost bought one on ebay to replace my Dell 5424 (which is also annoyingly loud). Can anyone suggest a similar switch with 10gbe? Doesn't have to be dead silent, but quieter the better...

I am running a 4948-10G and I dont know what you are talking about?

I will make a video of it for you... the one in the video is for a client of mine. I am preparing to deploy it... stay tuned ill post a you tube link as soon as possible..
 
Bit of an update:

Sourced a Cisco 4948 (A previously enjoyed one from ebay), and thats working an absolute treat, 30+ VM's running over it and not a single support ticket opened for speed issues

it has worked so well we are getting another to get another path laid in for data.
 
Good call, we had to do this same. After a 2960 and a 3750 the 4948 has done great!
