Cinematic Mod 10

I am downloading this mod right now (8.6GB holy $#^*!). Does this mod work only with HL2 or does it work with HL2:E1 and E2 and Lost Coast as well? If not, where can I get mods for those episodes as well?

Yea works with the all episodes too. My only criticism was they didn't make the girl look slutty enough, even with the other outfits.

I used adult pimper ( I think thats what it was called ) to make Alex have like short daisy duke type shorts and enhanced tits.

But yea CM10 made me play through half life 2 all over again it def makes everything look really sharp.

At least you can choose which models to use and which models to leave alone. The install took quite a while but the results are definitely worth it. I kept the original music and upped the brightness a little but the higher detailed environments are great.

Not only does it work with all episodes but I believe you actually need all episodes to get it to work as you need the engine updates from episode 2.

I remember in one of the older CM releases (like 6 or so) he had an option for an HD but otherwise stock Alyx. That option has been gone for some time and I wish it would return. I don't believe in "slutty Alyx" (personal preference) but it would be nice if you could get regular Alyx without having her be the only crappy looking low-def object in the game...

i don't mind him changing alyx to look like adriana lima, but just give her a somewhat normal appearance and normal clothes. leave the g-string whale-tail and cornrows out.

Exactly right. ALL THREE Episodes (E0, E1, E2) must be installed and executed once before installing CM.

+1 that would be a step in the right direction anyways. Alyx is a "nice girl"

There is no such thing as "Episode 0" it's HL2 and EP1 and 2.

The sluttiness of the Alyx model is pathetic and ridiculous, so I've stuck with the regular version for consistency. That said, if you do install the mod, do your old saves become invalid?

I'd much rather have a mod that gives you ironsights and locational damage (besides headshots) and more enemies.

Or, you know, Half Life 3.

iron sights would really freshen up the series. it's a small thing, but it's so difficult for me to get into a game that doesn't allow you to use iron sights.

I just took a look and, for me, I liked the one from #2, #3 looked like a bad nose job, then it just got worse and worse... #10 looks like someone rolled over her face or something... maybe that was a different character, but seriously WTF is up with the black eyes and plastic, stick-up-the-butt expression? all the other characters look great though, at least in comparison to this main character

I played with the Cm mod awhile back, I really did not like the new models. I wish they just enhanced the originals without them looking like they were created by Team Ninja.
I also didn't like the batman music thrown about. It was a good idea, but I kept looking for the bat while getting shot by combine.

I just installed this mod last night. I haven't played through HL2 since its release, but I think this is enough of a sprucing to make me give it another more go.

And I agree with the previous posts saying leave Alyx alone. They spend so much time working her over she looks like a truck on the way to a whore convention smashed into a plastic surgery clinic.

This is also why mod maker got all butthurt and stopped making his mod public on some mod content site. Didn't like the criticism of his "sensibilities."

I also remember one of the older versions (CM5, maybe?) had additional cutscenes. The ones I'm thinking of were used towards the beginning of the game, alternating action and text, telling some of the early story and helping to set the stage. I've played HL and HL2 a couple of times and I still learned some things about the HL universe from those cutscenes. I think they were removed as of the next release and never seen again. I keep meaning to do a replay using CM10 but I have almost no time for gaming lately and a big backlog of games I haven't already played through...

well i try this CM 10 latest version, downloading 10gb ++ take less time then installing this thing ( it a fan amatour work of one person ) it looks bad not worth it at all, the textures and all mod looks fake and overdone

I like the mod. My only complaints are the scenes are too dark and the overuse of the fern foliage. There's seriously ferns everywhere

I would say no, IIRC i think after CM7 Fakefactory started adding and removing assets in the game. Along with his obession to change the appearance of Alyx, Barney and the rest of the civillians. I think CM7 was the best version Fakefactory made.The majority of the models were just HD versions of the original. Although, I'm not too sure if it works with the current version of HL2, EP1, & EP2

Ok so I downloaded and installed Cinematic Mod 10 however I don't know if the mod is working or not. I read the description about how the mod installs the game/mod in the start menu, so I clicked on the start menu to start the game. I just started the game and I'm in the train station still but looking around I'm not sure if the mod is running or not. I've never played HL2 before so I can't compare the vanilla graphics to the Cinematic Mod 10 graphics. I went on you tube to see a video of vanilla/cinematic gameplay and they look very similar. I know this game is rather old but does the cinematic mod make a huge difference? Maybe I will be able to tell a difference once I get to an outside environment. And yes I have the game maxed out.

Once you see Alyx you should be able to tell pretty quickly if it is CM or vanilla.

Im pretty sure on the latest version you can choose to use the original character models...I wish he made an option to have Alyx nude though. Needz moar sluttier Alyx!

Alyx wasn't changed by default after I installed CM10, I had to enable her new look through the configurator's pimper.

You should be able to tell if CM10 is working once you get outside if you see a lot of fern plants everywhere. Also, right after Barney pulls you into the interogation room and lets you escape. If CM10 is working then when you climb up the boxes and drop out the window you will land on a bunch of tall plants or something instead of falling right to the ground. Those are the quickest ways I know to tell.

After installing CM10 you must run the character pimper to enable any/all of the HD characters. By default they are unchanged.

If you want CM10-modded HL games you must launch them from the CM launch icons. You can still play the games unmodded from the original launch icons.
