Can you hook up the apple cinema displays to a desktop pc?
do you need special cables.

If it's an older Cinema Display, you'll want to make sure it's not ADC. If it is, you'll need a converter.

Keep in mind that with cinema displays, you may not be able to see your bios screen, so if you do frequent changes in the bios, you won't be able to make them.

i use the apple 30 inch with my pc ...no problem, bios or otherwise

I have Apple 30" running system signature, and I see everything fine, games look freaking nice, really like this Display so much I may possibly buy the next generation 32" due out Mac World '08

It only affects older ATI cards (I know first hand for it happen to me) that you can't see the bios, but you'll still be able to use the monitor.

there's no doubt that the Cinema displays are very nice LCDs, but (IMO) there's no way in hell they are worth what Apple thinks they are.

almost $2K for a 30" Apple Cinema when one can buy a Dell 30" for roughly $700 less? come on Apple, what are you guys smoking? :p

No kidding. Especially when Dell uses the same exact panel as the Apple Cinema Displays do.
