hey guys,

In the last few months I've had two hard drives die on me upon attempting to install a third one. In trying to troubleshoot this I got a new motherboard. That board is now dead. I try booting it with just the power supply outside the case and it chain reboots. My system was being unstable when playing games so I tried cleaning it with compressed air and when I put the side panel back on the system started doing chain reboots.

What is causing all these components to fail? I am starting to suspect the case but that seems very odd. I'm reluctant to put my components back in on the old motherboard for fear another part will get fried.

I know there's not a lot of data here but I'm getting frustrated.

Many things could be responsible. First thing I would replace would be the power supply as a wonky PSU can kill fragile hardware. You may also have bad power from the wall. A decent UPS should help filter that issue. But all in all it really could be so many things, such as you generating static and touching things, cheap components, or a mired of other issues.
 
Going to have to second the UPS purchase suggestion. I have 2 and I feel very safe using all of my equipment on them. I went with APC and have no regrets, very good systems.
