Chroming a Steel Case

Did a search and couldnt find any evidence of this being done. Id like to dip an entire case, panels included, wondering if it had been done by anyone here, and if so, how much did it cost?
 
find a shop in your area that does anodizing, nickel plating, chrome plating etc.. I think I've seen somebody do a nickel plated case that turned out very nice. It'll probably cost ~$200 for a case.
 
Plus, it's really expensive. I've heard figures in the $500 range.

... only if it isn't prepped right. If you take a part into a chrome/plate shop and ask them to chrome it, thats what they'll do. Take it in and ask them to strip, blast, acid clean, then chrome, they'll do that (and charge you for the privilage). You get what you pay for. When you go to the shop ask if they will prep the piece for you, or if they expect you to bring it in ready to dip.

Also, dependant upon the metal used for the cas, you will get varying levels of quality - remember, this isn't about spray painting, its an electrical process that pulls the metal to the surface, so if the cae is made from shitty steel, you are going to get inconsistent results.

Has powder coating been considered an option?

Is there a shiny metallic reflective powder coat available?
