Chrome for Mac

It seems very basic right now. I'm sure they'll add to it, but design wise i'm not all that impressed...

Chrome's never been a very feature-packed browser. Very bare-bones. Unfortunately, the Mac version is even more bare-bones than the Windows version. No extension support, scripting support seems to be completely MIA... it's fast, but so is Safari, the Webkit nightly builds, and Camino.

Computerworld, via Appleinsider: Safari faster than Chrome on OS X.

While besting Firefox by nearly 50 percent, Google's newly released Chrome browser was 12 percent slower than Apple's Safari in benchmark tests.

In benchmark tests run by Computerworld, Apple's Safari browser claimed the top spot over Firefox, Opera, and Chrome. Google released a beta build of Chrome to the public on Tuesday.

The results showed that Safari slightly edged out Chrome, was nearly twice as fast as Firefox, and over ten times faster than Opera.

Computerworld's method of testing used the SunSpider JavaScript benchmark suite. The test was run three times for each browser in OS X 10.6 and the numbers were averaged.

I'd use Chrome if it had find as you type navigation and options to disable java and javascript.

Sticking with Camino for the foreseeable future by the looks of it.

How is in on battery life though? I know Safari 64bit is a battery destroyer.

For what it is right now, it's cool. But I'm sticking with Safari. It's always nice to have options though.

Now if only Firefox didn't suck so much on OS X.

Eh? Safari has never hurt battery life. You must be thinking of Flash, because that most definitely does.

meh.....the UI of safari seems bit less obtrusive to me......stickin' to that for now...

One step closer to being able to use Chrome - find as you type navigation extension: http://code.google.com/p/chrome-type-ahead/

You will need to use a nightly build though. Extensions are disabled in the beta. Now I just need the ability to disable Java and I think I'll be switching from Camino.
