I currently use Windows Media Player as my default player for video. It seems like my PC won't do playback 1080p@60fps from my go pro hero 3+ black edition. I have video from my Samsung S5 1080p@30fps and AVCHD from my Sony NEX5 that plays just fine.

Is there any simple way to convert MP4 into a more user friendly format like AVI for windows? It seems like every go pro user uses Go Pro Studio, IMovie or Final Cut. I have Sony studio 10 for editing and VLC or Windows Media Player for viewing.

I use Freemake Free Video Converter which offers very simple conversion. You drag the file in, click the export type, and hit go. In this case you would want to maintain the original settings but change export type.
