I am up in the air about what speaker setup to buy. Here's what setups I am looking at.

M-Audio AV40's (previous version)

Are the M-Audio Bx5 D2's just as good/better as the Bx5a deluxe version? I cannot seem to find the deluxe version.

I cannot afford a sub right now, but if I got the M-Audio route I will get the M-audio sub eventually.

Or do I go for the Corsair sp2500 route.

My budget is $200-250. Feel free to offer suggestions.
 
Stay away from the cheaper maudio, you'll just end buying another set of speakers in about 6 months - 1 year. Read the reviews amps failing, bulging caps, imbalanced sound later on, list goes on! People ain't just saying this shit for the hell of it, it's for real.

Yes M Audio has ruined the av 40s without bass boost you wont here anything below 80hz and yes they have a bad habit of dying fast. You think that they would remedy the situation by adding a heatsink to the back.
 
so even the previous version is bad? of the AV40's that is.

What do you all suggest? $200-250..maybe $300 at most. Would you all recommend the Bx5a's or the Bx5 d2's?

The BX5 either version will be good, Im not sure if you can get the older AV40s My friend order one that was listed a the older version but when it arrived it was the new one.
 
Went with the Swan M10's...I couldn't shell out for the m50's just yet and I do not like the wood finish.
