Hi i am in the market for a new power supply my Thermaltake 430 watt is not cutting it anymore :(

I have been looking at this one here and was just wondering if it will be enough http://www.pcpowercooling.com/products/viewproduct.php?show=S47ATX

Currently my system is:

Gigabyte GA-K8ns pro (754)
Athlon 64 3000+
1 GB Corsair XMS pro
BFG 7800 GS OC
2 optical drives
2 Sata drives
2 120mm fans
1 80mm fan

Mostly just wondering if the PC power & cooling one i linked will do the job, or if there is better for under $150.

I will only have this computer until tax season then it gos to the wife, so there will be no more upgrades added ever.

Thanks in advance :)

Yes, it will be fine, however there are lots of cheaper options available, like the XCilo GoodPower 500W for $49 @ new egg. ;)

Well i have absolutely no problem dishing out the extra $50 for some piece of mind. However if there really is a better / more reliable PSU for the price of the one im looking at i will deffinately consider it.

Now one more question. Lets say i wanted to add a cold cathode light and OC it until i get my new one would this PSU still be up to the task?

The PC P&C 470W is a very good PSU, built by Seasonic.

I hate CC's, because of the fire hazard their inverters cause.

Ok no CC light, it was only $7 anyway. looks like a couple lighted fans will do the trick.

Thank you for your responses it helped alot :D

pfunkman,

That psu is rated max watts at 40C,instead of 50. So, if your output is greater than that (40), you'll loose efficency and the max wattage it produces will also decrease.

Rating at 40C is excellent, most rate at 25C. ;)

Ok after reading some reviews etc. i have one more question.

would the corsair 520W be worth the extra cash over the PC P&C? After looking at it i would imagine that when i build my system in january this one could even work with it. If that is the case it may be helpfull. (i plan on selling off that 7800 GS when the wife gets it so the TT can go back in)

Sorry im pretty much a PSU noob but i catch on quikly and this seems like a real nice PSU with a future in my new rig.

Thanks for the help guys
:)

It would seem your not the only one. and for $30 more on newegg it just seems like a beast compared to the PC P&C and its modular.

If it wasnt for going through the threads here i would say its too good to be true.
