I'm in the market for a new Video card. I've got it narrowed down to 3.

EVGA Superclocked GeForce GTX 570 Fermi 012-P3-1572-AR

XFX Radeon HD 6970 HD-697A-CNFC

EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Fermi 015-P3-1580 AR

I know the GTX 580 is overkill for my Monitor (1920 x 1080). However, I believe in buying as much up front so I have to spend less later so it's what I'm leaning towards.

I've never owned an ATI (AMD) card but if anyone can sway me why the 6970 would be a good choice over the 570 or 580 I'm willing to listen.

Rigs in my sig. Will be mostly gaming, some movie watching.

I'm really tempted by the 570 but if I go that way will I wish I got a 580 ? I want to run all my games balls to the wall max AA, Aniso shadows etc etc. The 2 GB ram on the 6970 looks great but I just don't know if I can bring myself to buy AMD for video.

How's XFX for service after the sale ?

Coming from a GTX 280 I know any of these will be a significant upgrade.

The Radeon HD 6970 is probably a bit faster than the GeForce GTX 570 and it's cheaper than the GeForce GTX 580. Seems like a no brainer to me.

I know it's not @ your choices, but you could buy a 6950 and unlock it to a 6970...

6950 prices are so low, you could even buy 2x6950, unlock to 6970's and probably perform better than 1 580.

Probably? I think you can count on that.
