Choice between two Gaming LCD Monitors...

These monitors will be used for a variety of things, but heavy gaming will be one of them. It's really a choice between these two, and no other. So please refrain from recommending others.

The first one is the Sony HS73....this comes with a 16ms response time and is good for gaming...correct?

The second one is the LG Flatron L1720B, this also claims to have a 16ms respons time, and is 70 dollars cheaper than the Sony?

Which one would you choose? Or is the answer neither?

BTW, some news I might share with you guys, ViewSonic is discontinuing the ViewSonic VP171B. Although I might be able to get my hands on one. It's an extra 30 dollars, but I wouldn't have to pay for shipping so I wouldn't care.
 
I ve heard that HS73 is not good for gaming, it has bad response time, the X73 is much better, and for LG L1720B i don't know, i wanted to buy that one, and no one answered on my thread for that monitor, so i don't know how is it, but on Tom's hardware site they say thath is good for gaming, but what's bodders me is the bad contrast ratio, just 150:1, not 450:1 as they claim, so you can't get black color on that monitor, but i think it is good for gaming.
I am buying these days Hyundai Q17, it is one of the best LCD monitor right now, not just for gaming, but colors, and contrast are also very good, just like on good CRT, so you might consider that one......
 
I ran an hs73 it was beautiful but did suffer ghosting. GO with a Samsung. Dont get coaught up in the ms timings.My 21.3 is 25ms yet looks better gaming than some of the 16ms 17 inchers i played with. Best thing to do is use it.

I did see a 19 inch Samsung in the store, it was quite nice but I did notice quite a bit of ghosting even when scrolling the internet and playing solitare.

Hopefully I can find the VP171B somewhere.

I would like to go for a 20 inch monitor, but I can't find the VP201B from a respectable place in Canada.

Different animal than the 213T using a dvi connector.
or maybe these 44 year old eyes just can't see it anymore.

LOL Thats one advantage to being a kid in an old farts body.

The look of the 213T speaks volumes of its own. Even though the Dell 2001FP is a high end device, the SyncMaster 213T is the definitive ultra-enthusiast device. We were particularly impressed with contrast, glare and dark value divergence between the 213T and the 2001FP. In our opinion, the 2001FP is the better gaming monitor. However as a workstation LCD, the SyncMaster 213T is unparalleled. DVD playback has no equal to anything we have tested over the last two years, and the additional screen space goes a long way. The brighter panel goes a long way in our opinion.
 
Yes the Dell is a little better for gaming but I spend only 1/4 of my time on the machine gaming

Well, even though I spend quite a bit of time typing among other things, I still want a great gaming monitor.

Pity the 2001FP is 1500 in Canada.
 
I would like to recommand the 17" Viewsonic VP171. I just bought one and am very happy with it so far. I am primarily using it for Quake3 and that's pretty good. Only downside is that you will be limiting your FPS to the refresh rate of the monitor. In my case that is 75 FPS which is quite a drop from 120 FPS which I was used to.
