Hello, I just got my 22" Widescreen LCD CHIMEI and hookit it up through DVI cord in my Geforce FX5200 and turned it on. Everything worked fine but the thing is that the resolution 1680x1050 is not only the MAX resolution of my monitor but it is its NATIVE resolution. For some reason I cant switch my monitor to 1680x1050...I can switch it to 1440x900....

At first I thought it was my Video Card not being able to support that Resolution but then I went onto Newegg.com and check 5 different brands of FX5200's and they ALL say Max Resolution 2048 x 1536...

Here is an example...

Here is my monitor!

Now if the Max Resolution of the video card is 2048x1536 then why cant my monitor of a Max and Native res of 1680x1050 get that high?

I have tried to custom make a res of 1680x1050 and when it goes to switch to it all i see are lines...please someone help me..

Sorry to bump my own post but I need help. does anyone have ANY clues at all?

You installed the drivers for the monitor right? My 5200FX couldn't run my 17 inch Sony monitor at 1280 x 1024 without the Sony drivers. Of course that was 4 years ago....

well if your card only has vga and you hook i up with a vga to dvi adapter thingy then you wont be able to support 1680x1050....i think. i dunno just a guess

although it does say max res on your card is higher..maybe thats with a giant crt with a 4:3 res not 16x10 or 9 whatever it is. just tryin to help sorry if im wrong.

No the monitor came with no Drivers. = \

Maybe that is the case that my video card means only 4:3...

Im SO confused

the weird thing is that I can set it to 1680x1000 but idk its hard to explain like I move the mouse to the right of the screen then the screen slides over to the rest of it...

In the manual of the CHIMEI it says at a res of 1680x1050 it has a Vert sync of 59.954..

1) the min I can selevt is 60 so I thought that was the problem so I went to custom and made a 1680x1050 res and a refresh rate of 50 and it STILL didnt work...

2) if it is in fact that the refesh rate is really that low and effecting this monitor then this thing is a piece of garbage...but then why have NO one complained about it in the newegg reviews...

Im so pissed..

What you are seeing at 1680x1000 is virtual panning, where the video card pans across a larger desktop using a moving window of lower resolution.

I think your problem is the 5200. Pretty sure that the max res of this cards digital DVI link is 1280x1024. FWIW I had some trouble with 5200's and Samsung 20's and it turned out that I could only run the native 1600x1200 res by using the analog VGA port on the 5200.

oh really? nice do you think I should try to use VGA and get that res and keep it or should I just stick to DVI at 1440x900 since DVI is better quality then VGA

I just got the same monitor and am happily running at 1680x1050 happy as a kite.

Sure my hardware config is slightly different.

Definitely switch to VGA b/c VGA w/ LCD's native resolution is WAY BETTER than DVI w/out LCD's native resolution.
