Chieftec are they trustable

It's a good case and will last you a long time. The price they are charging isn't too bas either, but it is a heavy case. Not the best thing for LAN parties. The aluminum version would be better if you ever plan on lugging your computer around.

Naw, i live in a small town so lan parties never happen
 
I've got one of the Antec versions of that chassis, it's great. Heavy as all hell, but roomy and sturdy.
 
Sweet then i wont have to tie it down, for when i start putting in as many 120mm case fans as this thing can fit :D
 
that's not a 120mm fan CASE. I would still get that case though, just find some higher quality 80mm fans.

And by the way, that is a HORRIBLE price for that case. Go to TigerDirect.com, they are alot less. :)
 
Im going to be purchasing a 754 a64, so i want my cpu stone cold cause i am not in the market of buying another if the first melts over :eek:

Actually, I have my rig in a Chieftec Matrix, and l go to plenty LAN parties. I have found that the durability of this case can actually protect the working parts of the computer much better than an aluminum case. I went to a LAN with a friend once, I drove, we took great care to make sure everything was in a place it would not move around in my SUV during normal driving conditions. While driving, I had to slam on the breaks pretty hard while on the express way and both his and my pc's slid off the back seat and into the back side of the front seats. my pc was fine, his aluminum case on the other hand was twisted and as a result, was putting a lot of strain on the MOBO and the expansion cards. Fortunately nothing inside his rig was damaged, but they could have been very easily.

I took mine to Lan parties too, but just about every one who picks up my case complains about the weight. I agree that they are good sturdy cases, but it is allot easier to lug around the aluminum case. I always seatbelt my case in and put it at an extreme angle to prevent what happened to yours when you slammed on the breaks.
 
I have one. Very reliable. Mines the aluminum one. I took my whole computer to my friends house once to this mini lan party of ours. Ride was bumpy but my computer survived in the trunk of a '89 prelude lol.
 
I bought one of the Matrix versions of that.

I had 2 intake 80mm's. 2 exhaust 80 mm's.
My temps were still pretty high, pushing mid 50's for an oc'd 1700+
It didn't get good airflow until i put a 120mm in the top three 5.25 drive bays.

Now it's nice and cool in there never gets above 42c.
I would recommend that if you want to go 120mm.
 
I have one too. Got it from tiger direct during one of the sales. sturdy but heavy like everyone elses says.
 
I have 2 of em, one is aluminum and the recent one I just got off Tiger Direct is the steel, but I got it for 19.99 (39.00 total with shipping). I think they have one on there now that is 29.99 but it is green or something so it is great for modding. I will look for the link. Good cases IMO.
 
I have it, great case, very sturdy, doesn't bend. TigerDirect will send you the steel version and I dont think there is an option to choose between the two....if you wanna watercool in the future, its veryyyy friendly. Waiting on the antec p-180 tho...
 
I also have a Matrix- TD sale, which probably makes it steel also. Amazing case, I replaced my old Hydraulic overnight.

1 80mm exhaust, front under HD bays.
2 80mm intakes: side panel blows right on GF6800, back wall blows onto CPU HSF
1 120mm PSU exhaust

(And yes, I know most people have the exhaust in back.)

Pulls temps around 40C idle, 45ish load on a 2.4GHz XP.
 
i have a chieftec dragon... its so big it doesnt matter that it has no motherboard tray. and the matter with the 120 mm fans.. doesnt matter as much when you have 6 80mms or more in there, i got my pc quiet/silent and moving a ton of air, have to keep cleaning off the xp-120 and zm80d-hp as wella s bottom of case because of dust build up

i have JUMPED on my case and it doesnt even budge... weight isnt that bad imo

you can fit 92 mm fans in the drive cages.. works quite convieniently for the video card... air going straight towards it :D

cpu temps dont go past 120F at 1.70v and video card doesnt go past 60C at max voltage the bios can give it yet the whole system is inaudible from 5 feet away :D
 
I've put quite a few servers in those cases, and they have been damn fine. Reliable, easy to work in, plenty of room, solid, solid cases.
 
Thanks for all your input, thanks to you guys i decided that i am going to go with the Chieftec Dragon Case in the black colour. So as to match with my DFI lan party board :)
 
Where did you purchase your chieftec from, im not sure if i should go xoxide or tigerdirect cause tigerdirect is expensive shipping :eek:
 
We buy them on ebay for our builds, from the Tigerdirect.com store. Usually they are going for about $75 shipped. That is for the ULTRA Dragon, glossy paint. I have my personal machine in one and am building another--you can check it our in the Worklogs section of this very forum, link is at end of this message.
