I have seen on the forms that people use the Chev Chevette heater core as their rad. I have seen listing for 10-15 dollars and 20-30 dollars? I head to a local Bumper to Bumper and they quoted $49. I am wondering if anyone knows where to get one cheap?

I am looking at a total custom/cheap but good rig.

Right idea apparently the WRONG store, jeez thats sky high. Try other auto parts stores. Autozone wanted $20 for my 77 Bonneville w/AC core and its huge compared to the chevette. Perhaps the model year you gave was a special one.

hmm no its not 84 is the standard year also 86 model year is popular. Just go thru the yellow pages and call every auto parts store for 50 miles and ask for the price.

Try autozone and advance auto online stores as well.

Either car parts are sky high in your neck of the woods or that store is very proud of their heater cores. You can find one a lot cheaper with a little effort. I would avoid a used one.

try a junkyard, or wrecks, the crashed car donor yard...im not sure if they exist anywhere other than indiana but you can try

Oddly, Autozone list the chevette core at $26 and the bonne core, which is twice the size for under $20. Go with the Bonne core if you can. I'ts also easier to mod for fittings...

Managed to find one for $30 with shipping, not bad. Wish I would have seen that Bonne a couple hours ago. :(

Oh well I should be fine with the chevette.

btw overclockers.com had an article on making your own shroud for that core. it wasnt a bad article, might be worth a look. i
