white looks appealing... anybody/you got experience with putting celophane over white to do any color you desire; heat problems? (dont say duh a cold cathodes cold, my old ccfl got warm to touch) how about fancy stuff like liquid neon how about dual color tubes

they call them cold cathodes due to the gas that lights it up, not a temp. But white ones look awsome, i would recomend theater gels over celephane wrap though, that way u get a full range of colors to choose from and they are made alot better. SVC is awsome great site

theater gels are sheets of colored plastics that very in thicknes and whatnot.

Oh wow, something I actually have experience with ;)

Gels are like cellophane, as anti said, but thicker and heat-resistant. They're made to go in front of the huge, heat-pumping lights used in stage productions - that said, though, one of the redheads (500W spotlights) we used once actually melted the gel we were using.... fun!

A search for Colored Gel Sheets turns up a few options. It's pretty expensive, though - but it's tough, and best of all, it doesn't crease like cellophane.
