I am in the buisness of buying 2 cheep monitors, flat screen... but am at a loss of where to look for the best deal. I know that dells smaller ones arnt that bad, but what you do you guys think? what kind of deal could i get on a good day... and from where?

Thanks for your input!

Dell's lcd's are cheap and they have some great quality
I would go with them
Just make sure not to get an ultrasharp if you want the lower end models
the Ultrasharps are the higher end gaming lcd's

Out of curiosity, non-ultrasharps aren’t HORABLE for gaming are they? I do some of that every once and a while :). Also, I am usually into the dell computers, not their monitors, when would be the best time to buy monitors from them, I’m not looking for 20+ monitors, though that would be nice, but probably too expensive. I’m looking for like 17" maybe, and cheep!!!? Like cheep cheep as can go lol.

lcd's in general are better than crt, so no not in my opinion, and you can always software enhance it ya wanted too

no they are just fine, just the ultrasharp's are designed for high end gaming
It all depends on your eyes, i had an regular than i got a ultrasharp and i could not really seen the difference, but i know there is from looking at the specs :p

Thanks for all this feedback, this is really helpful. Another question! As far as unbelievable deals go, what prices should I expect to pay (during an incredible deal and normal good-deal) for varying sized monitors (from dell)? Any experienced shoppers out there with an answer to this one? =)

Every other week or so, the Dell 2007WFP goes on sale. I got it when it was 100 bucks or so off the standard price, ended up being about 370 shipped, which is pretty "cheep" for this monitor.

As for its performance in games, I don't have any complaints. HL2 Episode 2 and NFS:MW both played perfectly fine for me.

after recieving a monitor, how should i go about transporting it. Are flat screens really delicate, or not really?

I kept the original box that my monitor shipped in, and I use that whenever I transport it. The styrofoam padding was tough enough to allow the monitor to survive the trip from Dell to my house, so it will be tough enough to survive a much more gentle ride in my car to wherever I'm going.

That’s a pretty good point.
Have any of you had any experience with buying monitors off eBay? Is that usually a No No? Also what’s the deal on getting widescreen vs. normal monitors... even if they are the same "size" will the widescreen coast more? And if so... how much more?
