All of mine just asked me to sign into them again....better go run and check yours ASAP.

Actually moose, did your box log in and pick up a WU? I checked the forums at grid.org and there was no confirmation that things had been fixed or otherwise.

wishful thinking....It is still hanging there waiting.

Although, if it isn't logged in, it would get a WU when the servers do come back online.

Well it sounds like a few people have been able to get logged into member services there, so it might be safe to assume that part of their database reload has been sucessful.

Good news! According to the latest update, grid is back up and the boxen are back folding, so if you haven't checked yours, get them logged back in now!

mine isn't... down with a dead PSU. haven't gotten around to replacing it yet. if there are points coming in, they're from the compaq (family box) that may or may not be UDing as a service. i should check on it... but i don't feel like it. school blows :(

Downtime is going to happen, with *any* project, however keep in mind that out of the 5 years UD has been running these recent events are the first problems that have been major, most of the time the only downtime they had was maintenance related and that took an hour or 2 here and there..

Stanford has had it's share of problems too, like a F@H client that would crash and corrupt the results with every turnin, took 2 months to fix, a G@H client that would crash just about every hour on the hour, took 6 months to fix(G@H v0.94 anyone?). Stats being reset, stats being fooled around with, stats being removed because their client corrupted the work data, corrupt work, work servers that would crash and be down for several days at a time..etc

The point of this is, not to state either of the projects are better, just to show that no matter what project you run there will be problems, there will be downtime, there is no getting around that.

Myself I think the reason for the stats taking so long to return in UD was the fact that there was so much data in the database that it would be considered a nightmare for database backup restoration. Also I think they took the time to rewrite some of the stats code as it seems to be running quite a bit faster and more smoothly these days.

As for the people stating run F@H instead of UD, let's not go there, that is how the war that nearly tore this team apart started, we don't need that to start up again.

During the last team stat outage, Grid came out and said that they had to do a single restore to a reliable backup, and then had to step incrementally to get all of the WU's back up to speed, thats why the team stats took so long to get back in sync.

This most recent problems, they were goiing to dump some of the old stats, but found that people lost points, as instead of keeping a running total, they added it up across all updates, and in that course, the data base got corrupted.

It sounds like they've ironed out the problems, so the status quo has returned. Also, from the talk on their forums, it sounds like they're looking at a rather substantial infrastructure upgrade which should ease alot of the strain on their end.

Let's just hope that these upgrades solve the problems....I hate when machines sit idle....

I am with you there.

It has gotten to the point where, if the computers where I have the client installed are not running at 100% processor utilization 24x7, to me they seem to be just wasting electricity! Not to mention, the cure that is out there, just waiting to be discovered gets pushed back a day for every day we lose.

I am glad things are up and running again.
