I work at Circuit City, and yeah, I had a women come and ask to download some RAM

Women: I think I need new memory for my computer, it's really slow
Me: Well, what exactly is wrong?
Women: I have 256Mb of RAM
Me: Are you using Windows XP?
Women: Yes
Me: Ok, yeah, you should upgrade your RAM to atleast 512.
Women: Ok, well, where can I get some from.
Me: I can show you right over here
Women: No, like, where can I get some from, can't I just download it?
Me: No, you can't, you have to install it inside the computer, it's hardware
Women: It sounds like something I can just download
Me: No, you can't. You need to buy it and install it inside your physical computer, there's no way you can download ram.
Women: Are you sure I can't just download it?
Me: Yes, I'm sure
Women: Well, I'll go home and ask some friends of mine if I can just download and install it.

That's just the tip of the iceburg.....

Lol, I was laughing, but, not everyone knows everything about computers. I mean, hey, if you wanna go bust your balls trying to look for RAM to download, go ahead, lol. Doesn't bother me in the least.

Yeah, I'm still in college so, this is probably the best job I'll be getting for the time being.

Like I said before, I tell people what I know, and if they don't wanna believe me, lol, that's their right...

This guy was literally yelling at me the one day when I told him that all the routers we sell are switches as well (Linksys, D-Link, Netgear).

Guy: Do you sell any one port routers?
Me: No sir. The lowest port router we sell is 4 port.
Guy: I want a one port router so I can plug it into a switch!
Me: All the routers we sell ARE switches sir.
Guy: NO THEY'RE NO! All I want is a one port router so I can connect it to a switch to share the internet.
Me: Yes, sir, you are correct.

Then I walked away. Hey, the guy wants to spend twice the money, fine by me *shrugs*

and when you get advise/help here, people know what you are talking about, and how to fix/help it...talk to the geek squad, you will probably be on the phone for an hour and not even have your problem fixed.

Too bad I dont live in that area ... I got one of those I would love to get rid of. In the early days of high speed internet you could only get a single port router and then hook it up to a separate hub (switches were way too expensive). They do have their advantages still in that if you already have a nice switch you may not want to add a router that already has a switch or hub built in (many routers actually have hubs rather than switches). Then again, you can easily get desent routers with built in switches for dirt cheap and still hook them up to an existing switch. Shoulda told him to visit his local recycling depot, get an old PI or PII and install a linux router on it and save some dough :)
