Who the hell would need that? As an ethusiast, seriously. Server rack, sure. But a gamer? No way.

No, seriously though. Isn't the more powerful the PSU, the less load and the less noise? And don't some of the new video cards, espeically in SLI, require a TON of power? I thought that some people were running into new cards needing better than 500 W PSUs to run. I may be wrong...

Not necessarily. A high-capacity unit running at less than optimal loads will be less efficient. There's always a sweet spot involved, and with a PSU like this, it'll probably be a lot higher than your average model.
