if your getting a good rig like that dont shame it by throweing a lame assed card like that. get a radeon 9800 pro 128 atleest
 
Video editing? Get multiple processors. Xeons, Opterons, or better yet, PPC970s (they're awesome for video editing). The P4 is put to shame by just about anything with more than one processor.

Although that would be the best choice in terms of performance.....it WILL ramp up the cost of the system. I'd say at LEAST put togethor a config with a dual opteron or dual xeon just so the guy at least has the option of going with it. That's only fair.
 
Your video editing? Where are your storage drives? The raptors in a raid 0 config is ok but the 74 gigers are better suited and raid 0 gives you no redundantcy. you will need another drive to store the video files.

Yeah, that's something I left out.....gotta go for stability and reliability dude.....especially for something like that. ;)

Weird that I didn't notice that. Yeah, where the heck is your terabytes of mass storage? RAID 0 with fast drives is great and all, but unless you back up the data often, it's not very safe.

Heh, a lot of people DO have fairly limited budgets but yes, I do agree with you about needing a little more then 74 gigs of space. :cool:
 
go with the raid for curent projects and windows/programs and get a nice big 160-250 gig hdd for the rest. and go with the opterons

That's the same HDD setup I want for my comp later this year.....a couple 36GB Raptors for app installations, games, and windows and then a 250GB SATA for downloads.
