This will be primarly used for multiasking apps such as office, e-mail, photoshop, matlab, visual basic. Then movies and tv shows. I will probably play the occasional game but not often (1 hr a week max). I am considering overclocking, but only slightly. Chances are I'll be too lazy and leave everything at stock for a while.

Why would a CAS of 3 be more expensive than CAS of 2.5 for the corsair? I thought lower was better

The five year warranty on a MaxLine drive may be important to you, but you can save a few bucks by going with a DiamondMax10 w/ 16MB cache. The drives are the exact same except for the warranty length. A DM10 unit ships with a three year warranty.

The Benq DVD-RW drive is a great choice.

I reccommend cutting back on the processor and getting a better video card. at least get a 6800gt.

and why get a floppy drive? just spend $20 and get a USB thumb/pen/flash drive(what ever you want to call it). its more reliable and can hold tons more data.

I hardly play games at all and I really want a dual core. I have a usb drive already. and a floppy drive might come in handy someday for something...

I heard that the MaxLine is built with better quality and is designed to last longer or something because it's desiged to be in non- personal desktop computers.

I might go with the Seagate 7200.8 as I heard they were more reliable.

also, in terms of memory, should i get CAS 2.5 or CAS 3?

CAS 2.5 CAS 2 is better if you can find the ram you want in that latency
