I learned that trick when rewiring my 1976 CJ-5 Jeep. it was posted in a jeep magazine for easy wire management.... been using it with fan wires and such since

Yeah I'm probably going to end up doing that for my new build.
 
that's really cool - congratulations! Busy right now but as soon as I have some time I'll give the article a read.
