So I've been doing some research and it seems like the Silverstone ST350 is the way to go for a budget power supply. Is this the best quiet psu in this price range? I'm replacing some parts in my dad's pc (P5B-VM, E6300, Onboard Graphics so nothing powerful) and need a cheap but good psu.

Seasonic makes a few cheap 300-400W PSUs that can be found for under $50. Corsair's CX400 is also often on sale for less than $50 after rebate. Those are the bare minimum that I would suggest.

Thought they were trying to clear them out for modular supplies. Damn guess i got a good deal.

Not really looking to do rebates, is the Silverstone not a good psu? I thought it was one of the recommended ones under $45-50?

It's not one of my recommended PSUs but it's supposedly an all right PSU.

However as Zero82z, there are better quality Seasonic PSUs than that Silverstone. Like this PSU:

The above Seasonic has 27A on the +12V rail whereas the Silverstone ST350 only has 25A on the +12V rail. So the Seasonic is the better buy.

Hmm, are there any good 120mm psu's under $50? Like I said, this is not going to be a load stretching even a 350w psu.

Check out the Antec Earthwatts. It doesn't have a 120mm fan but mine is pretty quiet. Fairly cheap too.

The Silverstone 350 is a good unit and very quiet, the only downfall of the unit is its efficiency rating could be better.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I'm going to try find an Antec Earthwatts or Neopower used and go with the Silverstone if I can't get a decent price. I'm in Hawaii so I get gouged about $25 for shipping on all psu's from the 'Egg.

I picked up the Seasonic built Antec Neopower 500 for $45 shipped on eBay. I know it doesn't have the 120mm fan I was looking for nor is it built to the same qualities as the actual Seasonic but for the price I think it was the best way to go for me. It's supposed to be pretty quiet and stable.

The Neopower 500W is a very good PSU. It'll definitely do the job for you.

you guys dont read the sticky much...

the sale is still going on, $50 bucks, no tax, free fedex ground shipping, johnnyguru approved (and hardocp gold award)

no rebates to deal with... but no free shipping to hawaii unfortunately

nice deal on that neopower tho

Damn, definitely did not see that. Looks like they do actually do free shipping to HI. Oh well. I'll see how noisy the Neopower is. If it's bad I guess I'll just sell it locally and pick the up the BFG.

eWiz carries the Enhance 5140GH 400W PS for $44. This is the one Silverstone sells as the ST40EF. There's no sleeving on the Enhance OEM version. It is very quiet, has a 80+ efficiency rating, 120mm fan and an excellent Jonny Guru rating. (I am actually using on in a recent build.) It's probably not much better than the EW 380, but you can always get them for $44 (plus shipping).

It's certainly a better power rating match for your Dad's computer than a 800w PS.

I agree on the Enhance being of good quality. I picked up the Enhance 5150GH when it was on sale for 15 bucks at geeks and it has been a solid PSU so far.
