Ok, so you may of saw my thread last weak about custom building a U2-UFO look alike case that will better fit my needs, size, and wallet. Now I'm in search of the cheapest aluminum sheeting that I can find. Locally I looked at Menards, Home Depot, and Lowes and they all seem to have pretty much the same crap. None of them have Aluminum 5052 in the correct thickness except Home Depot but they are charging about $25 for a 18"x18" sheet. I've tried looking online but the only site that looks trustworthy so far is www.onlinemetals.com. They also have a great site to work around and whatnot, looks like a good place to buy from for a descent price. Does anybody else have any suggestions as to where I could buy some cheap Aluminum 5052 sheets. At this current site, I'm looking into buying 1 sheet of 36"x36"x.0625". Also I need to buy 1 sheet of 24"x36"x.0625". And to hold everything together I need 192" of L bracket that has 1" leaves. The stuff I was looking at is .09" thick. If I bought everything from this site, I would be spending about $100 in aluminum just for the outside housing. To make things easier, I'm currently thinking about buying the premaid motherboard tray from mountain mods. Or If I can find the right sized case, I might just rip everything out of it. I have an old CTX full tower case that I'm cuttin up for the drive bays and whatnot, but the motherboard tray is defintaly not worth it.....

End question, anybody know of any place that sells aluminum sheets for cheap?

I don't know if I'd buy it online, you have to deal with shipping and I wouldn't want to deal with shipping damage to thinner aluminum. I'd call around to larger welding outfits or fabricators, I have a welding shop in town that has EVERYTHING, if that's a bust i'd probably just eat the cost of retail.

Might want to look at THIS WORKLOG and see where I got things.

That's a sharp looking case, and the cat approval thing is hilarious, it seems like all the cat owners including myself always take pictures of the fuzzy ones checking out our toys.

eh, I happened to miss that log, but it is a great one.

He bought a premade frame, which I can't seem to find any for my sized case. And his aluminum was bought from from an ebay store which I had already lookd at. But his prices were only about 1 or 2 bucks cheaper then onlinemetal.com. Plust with anything from ebay, it's an arm and a leg for shipping something of that size.....

Money is an object for me, hence the reasoning for this thread in search of cheap aluminum. I think I'd rather take my chanced at building my own frame with $30 worth of L brackets then spending $80 bucks on a custom premade one... But, it's still not completely out the door yet.....

I find these prices very reasonable. All my metal comes from these guys, or locally...
