Hi Folks,

Just a quick question. I am making my old Dell Optiplex 360 a Home Media Server. I am going to use it mainly to play Blu-Ray's, DVD's, and Streaming (Boxee, Hulu ect ect..) I was just curious what kind of cheap video card I can purchase to put in there. I am not gonna ber playing games on it. Just for pure watching stuff to stream.

I am gonna keep Windows 2008 server on there. The machine has 4GB of Ram, A pentium D dual core processor (2,53Ghz) and a 1TB HD.

Just need something that people have gone with for a simular kind of thing.

Might help to know what bus you have available. That being said, and assuming it's PCIe, I would probably recommend a GT120, or something similar.
 
The Optiplex 360 should take a Core 2 Duo/Celeron Dual Core. I'd get a cheap Celeron e3200 as it'll be faster and cooler than the Pentium D CPU.

Also, I'd grab the any lowend-midrange ATi 5xxx card.
 
It doesn't have any integrated? You don't need anything more than Intel if you're not going to game.

Having a dedicated GPU helps take the load off the CPU for 1080p Blu-Ray and MKV rips.
