I'm looking for a cheap coolant for a WC system that's safe with acrylics. IIRC, any alcohols (eg, ethanol, isopropyl, methanol, etc) will deteriorate acrylics. So those will not work.

Any household remedies would be fine.

Please mention the mixture proportions.
 
10% Antifreeze, but you would known that if you had read any threads containing the word coolant (hint: search).
 
One of the keywords in this thread is cheap. Antifreeze costs over $10 here in amounts far larger than I would ever need.
 
10$ for anti freeze??? maybe enought for you to fill you car with...but you can get a quate of it for like 2 bux and thats more than enought...


But really IMO from experence... use water! it is called water cooling. I rec, distilled water and a table spoon of bleach.. you will be jsut fine and it will cooler better than anything..
 
Yup, that's the only stuff I can find here. Enough for actual cars, nothing smaller.

Bleach idea sounds interesting.
 
You mean to say you dont have any anti-freeze around? for to put in a car that you might have?

your best bet really is to break down and buy some antifreeze ..

ethlyene glycol is better than propylene glycol

Yeah, it seems that way....Not a big problem, but I thought I could get a little creative with something else....
 
Where are you located? It is hard to believe that antifreeze near you only comes in 4 gallon containers at $10 each. Is there a walmart or kmart or other discount store nearby?
 
There's a KMart, but they don't have small containers. I don't live in suburbia like most people, I live in a city. Everything besides restaurants is more expensive here.

All that stop-and-go city driving must make cars go through coolant real quick if Kmart doesn't have gallon containers.
